We’re filling our band groups for next semester. Sign up for the audition now and make sure you have a spot!

Where: Bom-B Music School, Oudegracht aan de Werf 56, Utrecht
Format: Group lesson
Cost: FREE
Prepare: two songs on your instrument — “Losing My Religion” (R.E.M.) and “Flowers” (Miley Cyrus).

The course itself: Mondays, [19:00–20:30 or 20:30–22:00] from 7 September, at our studio. 19 weeks, €370.50 (the €15 audition fee comes off this). Follows the school calendar, holidays included.

Join the Bom-B Band Course in Utrecht – Develop Your Musical Skills

The Bom-B Band Course in Utrecht is designed for students, parents, and music enthusiasts of intermediate and above levels. Whether you’re an aspiring musician or eager to explore creative expression, this program offers a welcoming environment to develop your musical abilities without the need for prior instrument mastery.

What to Expect: Covers, Improvisation, and Creativity

Music Theory: Learn the fundamentals behind the music you love, and discover how it moves us emotionally.
Arranging: Turn familiar tunes into something fresh and personal, using your own style to reimagine well-known songs.
Songwriting & Composition: Everyone has a story to tell. Whether it’s through lyrics, melodies, or rhythms, we’ll help you craft original music that expresses who you are.
Improvisation: Under Louis’ guidance, you’ll explore both structured and freeform improvisation, learning essential skills like listening, dynamics, and creativity. This is also a great opportunity to try out new ideas and discover your unique sound.
Live Performances: Finally, after all your hard work, you’ll get to share your music with a live audience—an unforgettable experience that brings everything full circle.

Rehearsal Structure

Cover Songs Practice: Approximately 50–55 minutes dedicated to learning and rehearsing popular songs.
Break: A short intermission to relax and socialize.
Improvisation and Original Composition: Another 50–55 minutes focused on creativity and developing original pieces.

I’ve been writing and performing songs in various bands for over 20 years. I’m primarily self-taught, with 15 years of experience as a full-time street musician. Originally from Copenhagen, Denmark, I moved to the Netherlands in 2015, where I established a career with my band Subterranean Street Society. With the band, I write, record, and tour throughout the Netherlands and abroad. In 2019 our single “Only Your Sins Know” was featured in the Netflix series “Ragnarok”, and in 2024 our album “Bleep”, was followed by two club tours in The Netherlands with a sold-out show at Paradiso.
As a band coach, my main focus is to teach students how to embrace mistakes. Building confidence means allowing yourself to experiment and express creativity freely, without the constraints of right or wrong. I want to show them that listening to one another
is the most essential skill when it comes to playing in a band.
