Ayla Losada, piano teacher

Have you ever wanted to be able to play your favorite tunes on the piano? Perhaps you want to catch up with your playing again and rediscover your passion for music? Regardless of your level or the experience you have playing it, I am very glad to guide you in discovering your own journey and help you achieve your musical goals.

Make the piano your passion! The piano is a very versatile instrument with an important role that fits into any musical style. Being a polyphonic instrument, it gives the musician a holistic overview of what is happening in the music. That way, it becomes easy to hear what you see and the other way around. Thus, understanding music concepts such as harmony and structure in a practical and visual way. In addition, playing the piano is undoubtedly a fun activity in which students can max up their creativity.

Personalized lessons for everyone

Music is a universal language that transcends age and brings immense benefits to both kids and adults. Regardless of their age, my piano lessons are designed according to the specific needs of each student and the main objective is to guide them in the optimal direction to achieve their full potential in a fun way. Thereby, the piano becomes a tool to understand what making music really means and will be a way for the student to express their emotions.

Different music genres

Music is not only a means of expression and communication but also a universal language that connects people. Embracing diversity is essential, particularly when it comes to musical genres and styles. I draw inspiration from exploring and learning about different styles, encouraging my students to play and experiment with music ranging from classical to avant-garde. Together, we embark on a fun-filled journey of growth, improvement, and discovering new ways of making music.

What to expect in my piano lessons

In my lessons, students and I collaborate by playing together. Playing with others provides invaluable opportunities to learn teamwork, group dynamics, and the art of listening to different musical voices. From the very first lesson, students begin making music, even if it starts with playing a single note. We focus on learning basic musical concepts, developing listening and rhythmic skills through enjoyable exercises, and establishing good posture with relaxed and flexible bow and left-hand technique.

Embracing improvisation and open-mindedness

There’s an indescribable joy in creating art on the spot. Exploring and creating music triggers a flow state where we become fully immersed in the activity, and the world around us fades away. If you’re inclined towards this experience, we can embark on a journey of discovering new emotions, colors, sounds, harmonies, textures, styles, and genres, with the freedom to improvise and unleash our creativity together.

Exploring technology in music: Recording and producing

In the 21st century, technology offers endless possibilities in the audiovisual field. Whether it’s recording auditions, producing and releasing your first single, live looping, or utilizing effects, you can learn all these exciting aspects with me. If you’re curious, don’t hesitate to book a trial lesson and dive into the world of music technology.

Group lessons and ensembles

While playing music alone is enjoyable, the true magic happens when we play with others. Being part of bands or ensembles is an incredibly fulfilling experience. I personally enjoy playing the piano in various ensembles and drawing inspiration from fellow musicians. If you’re intrigued by this idea, I’ll bring you together with other students for technique workshops, jam sessions, piano duets, and other engaging activities that pique your interest.

MEET OUR TEACHERS

Anna Dalavagka, piano teacher and our synthesiser wizard

Availability: Thursdays 15.00h-20.00h

My goal as a pianist and teacher is to explore the possibilities of the piano as an instrument and the different roles a keyboard can have in an ensemble. From bass to high pitches, different pedaling, extended piano techniques, combinations of piano with electronics (live or tape), using electronic keyboards with millions of different sounds, playing with analog synthesizers… Whether it’s groove or melody, chords or soundscapes, a keyboardist can produce a wide range of atmospheres with any keyboard they play! That’s exactly the kind of passion I want to pass on to my students. I equally enjoy playing pieces by big classical composers as well as improvising on simple pop tunes. Therefore, I can help anyone who wants to find their way in the musical world through black and white keys. It’s not always easy, but it’s always fun!

My lessons include technique shortcuts that will make your life easier, basic music theory or harmony (according to your needs), different genres, and improvisation. Together, we discuss and decide what type of pieces or songs suit you best. We recommend music for each other to listen to at home and provide feedback. Ear training will sometimes be part of the lessons so that you can play pieces you like by ear. Additionally, we will learn how to read and write notes.

You will also have the opportunity to meet your fellow students, and we will organize group lessons or music evenings where we can share our music, discuss our progress, and play together. Come along!

Sometimes I am lazy like a panda, and other days I am highly motivated like Cristiano Ronaldo. We simply can’t separate music from life.

Therefore, my goal is to help you to discover yourself and find joy in playing the piano! Don’t let those 88 keys scare you. Along with Bom-B music’s vision, we will take small steps (or perhaps, big ones) and just before you know it, you will be able to do things that you could not do before.

Ayla Losada, the adaptive piano teacher in Utrecht

Availability: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 15.00h-20.00h Friday 15.00-18.00h

The piano was the first instrument with which I began my musical journey and thanks to that choice I have been able to acquire a complete vision of what music means. Together with the cello, the piano became my life partner and part of my daily life. I studied piano and cello at the Bilbao Conservatory in Spain. After that, I moved to the Netherlands to study my second master’s degree at HKU Utrecht Conservatory. I continued improving my piano skills and I am an active player and teacher of both instruments at the moment.

My goal in Bom-B Music and as a music teacher, in general, is to make the students able to experience all types of emotions by playing music, understanding the musical process from its roots with a creative and modern approach.
